ESI home window

The main ESI GUI window provides a one-stop view of the storage systems, hosts, host clusters, and applications added to ESI.

The ESI interface has three panes:

The following table lists some of the actions available in the right Actions pane or by clicking Action from the menu bar:

Description

Add Storage System

Adds a storage system.

Export Access Control

Exports the access control information to an ESI access control file.

Notice: This action is being deprecated in this release and will be removed from future ESI releases.

Import Access Control

Imports the access control file to an ESI host to gain access to the specified system.

Notice: This action is being deprecated in this release and will be removed from future ESI releases.

Add Host (Windows only)

Adds a Windows host system.

Add Windows System

Adds a Windows host system.

Add Linux System

Adds a Linux host system.

Publish Connection

Publishes the connection information for a specified system.

Add Cluster System

Adds a host cluster.

Add Hypervisor

Adds a hypervisor. You can select from Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, or VMware vSphere.

Add SharePoint

Adds a SharePoint farm.

Add Exchange

Adds an Exchange forest.

Add SQL Server

Adds a SQL Server.

Add Replication

Adds a RecoverPoint or AppSync replication service.

Refresh

Refreshes the window. If you have ESI open for a long period of time, click Refresh to reset the display.

View

Contains options to customize the current view.

Options

Set the time-out for ping system to the number of milliseconds for a ping between ESI and a selected system.

Note: You can then click Ping to test the connection between ESI and a storage system, host, host cluster, application, or hypervisor.

Customize view settings

To show or hide items in the Home window, select View > Customize from the menu bar. The Customize view dialog box appears. Select or clear the following checkboxes to customize your view:

Left navigation pane.

Standard menus (Action and View)

Top menu bar: View and Help.

Standard toolbar

Icons in the second row of the menu bar: Back and Forward arrows, Up One Level in the Console Tree, Show/Hide Console Tree, Help, and Show/Hide Action Pane.

Status bar

Status bar at the bottom of the Home window.

Description bar

Description at the top of a pane. For example, if a VMAX storage system is selected, VMAX and the size and ID of the storage system are displayed.

Taskpad navigation tabs

ESI does not use MMC taskpad navigation tabs, so this selection does not provide any additional choices.

Action pane

Right Actions pane.

Menus

ESI does not have additional menu views.

Toolbar

ESI does not have additional toolbar views.
