Notice: This feature is being deprecated and will be removed from future ESI releases
In ESI, you can use the export and import access control actions to grant another user access to a set number of storage pools. That user can then view and manage only that set of storage pools without requiring full storage system access or administrator credentials.
Use the following steps to grant access control:
Export the access control information to an ESI access control file.
Give the access control file and password to a user.
That user can then import the file to an ESI host to gain access.
To export access control to a user for a select number of storage pools:
In the left pane of the ESI window, select Storage Systems and the applicable storage system.
In the Actions pane, click Export Access Control.
In the Export Storage Access Control dialog box, select the storage pools and click the arrow button to add the pool to the grant access list on the right.
In the Access column, select from the list box the types of storage pool access to allow a user.
Confirm the list of pools, and then Click OK.
In the Storage Access Control File Information page, click Browse to select a file path and type a name for the ESI access control (.Esiacl) file. Click Save to accept the file name and path.
In the Password and Confirm fields, type the password for the storage access control file.
Note: You can select Show password, to display the password in the Password field, and then type the password in this field.
Click Export to export the file.
Give the file and the password to the user who requires access.
To import access control for a select number of storage pools:
Copy the import access control file to the ESI host that requires access.
Start ESI and, in the left pane of the ESI window, select Storage Systems.
In the right pane, click Import Access Control.
In the Storage Access Control File Information dialog box, click Browse and locate the file path and name of the storage access control file.
In the Password field, type the password for the storage access control file.
Click Import to import the access control information from the file.
ESI adds a new storage system to the list. This new system gives that user access to view and manage the selected set of storage pools.
