Use this tab to specify SNMP readcommunity names for use by Network Discovery.
You should specify all the community names used in your environment
so that Network Discovery can search as many routers as possible.
Network Discovery uses routers' hardware caches (net-to-media
tables) to find subnets and other SNMP devices.
Community name
The read SNMP community names used by one or more
routers in the network. Network Discovery tries names starting at
the top and working down. Each name is retried once if it fails.
Successful names are remembered, and Network Discovery tries them
first the next time it talks to the routers that use the matching
name. Community names are case-sensitive.
Click to delete the selected community name. If no community
name is selected, this button is disabled.
Click to move the selected community name up one position in
the table. If no community name is selected, or the selected
community name is at the top of the list, this button is
disabled.
Click to move the selected community name down one position in
the table. If no community name is selected, or the selected
community name is at the bottom of the list, this button is
disabled.
Maximum hops
How many routers to search beyond the discovery server when
discovering resources. The default of 0 causes only the local
subnet to be discovered, up to the first router. One hop goes
beyond the first router to every router linked to the first router.
(For more information, see the example.)
You can specify as many as 10 router hops.
