The Configuration Items node in the Configuration Manager console appears under the Desired Configuration Management node. This node displays any desired configuration management configuration items that have been created, imported, or inherited from a parent site. For each configuration item, the following information is displayed:
- Name: Specifies the name of the
configuration item.
- Type: Specifies the type of
configuration item: Application, General, or Operating System.
- CI Version: Specifies the version
number of the configuration item.
- Content Version: Specifies the version
number of the XML content contained in this configuration item.
- Categories: Specifies the categories
that have been assigned to the configuration item.
- Created (UTC): Specifies the date in
Coordinated Universal Time when the configuration item was
created.
- Last Modified (UTC): Specifies the
date in Coordinated Universal Time when the configuration item was
last modified.
- Last Modified By: Specifies the
Windows user account that was logged on when the configuration item
was last modified.
- Site Code: Specifies the Configuration
Manager 2007 site code where the configuration item was
created.
You can use View, Add/Remove columns to add further information to this window.
Actions for the Configuration Items Home Page
The following actions are available on the Configuration Items home page:

Selecting an existing configuration item causes the following additional actions to be displayed:

Displays the XML definition for the configuration item in a new window. |

Manage Categories |
Opens the Categories dialog box from where you can assign, modify, or remove a category for this configuration item and also create new categories and delete existing categories. |

Opens the Move Items dialog box that enables you to move the selected configuration item into a folder. |

Cut |
Moves the selected configuration item to the Clipboard. |

Paste |
Pastes a configuration item from the Clipboard into the currently selected folder.

Delete |
Opens the Confirm Deletion dialog box that enables you to review the effects of the deletion before deleting the configuration item. |

Refresh |
Refreshes the display with the most current information. |

Properties |
Opens the Configuration Item Properties dialog box that enables you to review and change the properties of the selected configuration item. |
