When Software Inventory Agent collects software inventory on a multi-site client, the agent:
For example, site CHI is set up to inventory .exe files, and site PHI is set up to inventory .cmd files. Software Inventory Agent is installed on a client that belongs to both sites and will inventory .exe and .cmd files.
A file requested by more than one site is collected only once.
Each client site that enables software inventory receives the same inventory file, which includes everything requested by all client sites. As a result, a site might receive information that it did not request. However, if a site does not have software inventory enabled, it will not receive the inventory data.
When a client attaches to a new site, Software Inventory Agent takes a complete software inventory and sends the file (Sinvdat.sic) to all the client sites.
