Use this tab to specify the package source directory (if any)
and to update the package source as needed. Package source files
are those copied to distribution points to support a package when
one or more of its programs is advertised to clients.
This package contains source files
This package has source files that are required to run its
programs when they are advertised to clients. By default, this
check box is cleared.
When this check box is cleared, SMS does not use distribution
points for the package.
Source version
The number of times an administrator has updated the package
source files and requested an update to distribution points,
followed by the date and time of the last update. The Source
version is incremented each time the path in Source
directory is changed or the Update all distribution
points command is run or selected in the Manage Distribution Points Wizard. This field is
empty unless the This package contains source files check
box is selected.
Source directory
The network path to the package source files.
Set
Click to open the Set Source
Directory dialog box, which enables you to specify the path
for the package source files on the network.
Use a compressed copy of the source directory
SMS will create a compressed version of the source files on the
site server. When you specify additional or refresh distribution
points for the package, the compressed version will be decompressed
and copied to the distribution points, rather than being copied
directly from the original source directory. Use this option if the
source files might be removed from the specified path (for example,
if the source files are on a compact disc). If you select this
option and then specify Update All Distribution Points in
the Manage Distribution Points Wizard, a
new version of the compressed copy is created from the specified
source directory.
A compressed version of the source directory is always created
and used when the package is sent to distribution points in child
sites.
This field is available only when the This package contains
source files check box is selected.
Always obtain files from source directory
SMS will obtain package source files (the files needed to run
the package programs, such as .exe and .dll files) from the path
specified in the Source directory box. Use this option if
the source files are likely to remain at the specified path, such
as a share on a server.
This field is available only when the This package contains
source files check box is selected (note that it is unavailable
if the package is a compressed version replicated from a parent
site). By default, this option is selected.
Update distribution points on a schedule
The source files for this package will be regularly updated on
distribution points. This field available only when the This
package contains source files check box and the Always
obtain files from source directory option are selected. By
default, this check box is cleared.
When selected, the default schedule is set to the current date
and an interval of one day.
Schedule
Click to open the Schedule dialog box, which
enables you to specify how frequently to update the package data on
distribution points.
This button is available only when the Update distribution
points on a schedule check box is selected.
