Software Inventory Client Agent Overview

Software Inventory is the process of gathering software information from current site clients in a Systems Management Server (SMS) site. The information gathered can include operating system, network type, installed programs, and any files you want to look for. SMS stores this data in the SMS site database, where you can use the information in queries to generate reports or build software-specific collections. For example, you can create a collection of all computers that run Windows 95 and have Microsoft Office 97 installed.
