The configuration baselines and configuration items displayed in the results pane from their respective nodes in Configuration Manager 2007 can be exported to a list as a text file. You can use this file as a historical record, and you can also import it into other applications such as Microsoft Office Excel and Word to include in spreadsheets or reports.

Use the following procedure to export the list of configuration baselines or configuration items.

To export the results list to manage configuration baselines and configuration items

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Desired Configuration Management.

  2. To manage configuration baselines, click the Configuration Baselines node. To manage configuration items, click the Configuration Items node.

  3. To export the displayed list in the results pane as a text file, right-click the node, click View, and then click Export list.

  4. Specify a file name in the Save As dialog box, and click the Save as type to specify whichever one of the following formats is suitable for the application into which you want to import the list:

    • Text (tab delimited) (*txt)

    • Text (comma delimited) (*.csv)

    • Unicode Text (tab delimited) (*txt)

    • Unicode Text (comma delimited) (*.csv)

  5. Click Save.
