The Configuration Baselines node in the Configuration Manager console appears under the Desired Configuration Management node. This node displays any desired configuration management configuration baselines that have been created, imported, or replicated from a parent site. By default, each configuration baseline displays the following options:

On the Configuration Baseline home page, click View, Add/Remove columns, to add additional information to this window.

Actions for the Configuration Baselines Home Page

The following actions are available on the Configuration Baselines home page:

Action Description

New Configuration Baseline

Opens the Create Configuration Baseline Wizard that enables you to create a new configuration baseline.

Import Configuration Data

Opens the Import Configuration Data Wizard that enables you to import configuration items and configuration baselines from files.

New Folder

Opens the New Folder dialog box that enables you to create a folder to group configuration baselines together.

New Search Folder

Opens the Search Folder Criteria dialog box that enables you to gather configuration baselines into a folder based on search criteria.

Give Feedback

Opens a Configuration Manager 2007 Web site where you can give feedback.

View

Provides the following view options:

  • Add/Remove columns: Specifies which columns display in the results pane. Select the column name from the Available columns list, and click Add to add the column to the Displayed Columns list. Select the column name from the Displayed Columns list, and click Remove to remove the column from the displayed columns. Click Restore Defaults to display the default columns. Click OK to save changes.

  • Export list: Exports the data in the display pane to a text or Unicode text file that is tab or comma-delimited.

  • Hide search bar: Specifies to hide the search bar located above the display pane.

  • Customize: Specifies which items are displayed in the Configuration Manager 2007 console.

New Window from Here

Opens a new console window using the current node as the root node.

Refresh

Refreshes the display with the most current information.

Help

Opens the associated Help topic.

Selecting an existing configuration baseline causes the following additional actions to be displayed:

Action Description

Assign to a Collection

Opens the Assign Configuration Baseline Wizard that enables you to assign configuration baselines to collections.

Export Configuration Data

Enables you to export the selected configuration baselines and related configuration items to a file.

Duplicate

Creates a copy of the selected configuration baseline.

Disable/Enable Baseline

Toggles the status of a configuration baseline between enabled and disabled for compliance monitoring.

View XML Definition

Displays the XML definition for the configuration baseline in a new window.

Manage Categories

Opens the Categories dialog box from where you can assign, modify, or remove a category for this configuration baseline and also create new categories and delete existing categories.

Create New Collection

Provides the following options:

  • Compliant Systems – Opens the New Collection Wizard. The Wizard is prepopulated with a query to create a collection of computers that is compliant with the selected configuration baseline.

  • Non-Compliant Systems – Opens the New Collection Wizard. The Wizard is prepopulated with a query to create a collection of computers that is not compliant with the selected configuration baseline.

Applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 R3.

Add

Enables you to add the following types of configuration item to this configuration baseline:

  • Operating System configuration item

  • Required Application or General configuration item

  • Optional Application configuration item

  • Software Update configuration item

  • Prohibited application configuration item

  • Configuration Baseline

Cut

Moves the selected configuration baseline to the Clipboard.

Copy

Copies the selected configuration baseline to the Clipboard.

Paste

Pastes a configuration baseline from the Clipboard into the currently selected folder.

Note
This option is only visible if you have cut or copied a configuration baseline to the Clipboard.

Delete

Opens the Confirm Deletion dialog box that enables you to review the effects of the deletion before deleting the configuration baseline.

Refresh

Refreshes the display with the most current information.

Properties

Opens the Properties dialog box that enables you to review and change the properties of the selected configuration baseline.

Help

Opens the associated Help topic.
