Update lists in Configuration Manager 2007 are used to initiate deployments for a set of updates without having to manually select the updates in the set each time a new deployment is created. The following procedure provides the steps necessary to deploy software updates using an update list.
To deploy software updates using an update list
-
In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Updates / Update Lists.
-
Start the Deploy Software Updates Wizard with the specified update list using one of the following methods:
- Right-click the desired update list, and then click Deploy
Software Updates.
- Drag-and-drop the desired update list to a deployment template.
The deployment is configured with the settings from the template,
and the wizard requests information only about the collection (if
not specified in the template), deployment package (if the update
is not in an existing package), download location (if the update is
not in an existing package), deployment schedule, and NAP effective
date (if NAP is enabled).
- Drag-and-drop the desired update list to a deployment. The
configured settings for the deployment are maintained, and the
wizard requests information only about the deployment package (if
the update is not in an existing package), download location (if
the update is not in an existing package), deployment schedule, and
NAP effective date (if NAP is enabled).
- Right-click the desired update list, and then click Deploy
Software Updates.
-
Follow the steps in the wizard to create or modify the deployment.
-
When the Deploy Software Updates Wizard completes, the deployment displays in the Deployment Management node. If a deployment template definition was saved, it displays in the Deployment Templates node. If a deployment package was created, it displays in the Deployment Packages node. The Refresh action might be needed on each node for the objects to display.
Note To modify the properties for a deployment, right-click the deployment in the Deployment Management console tree node, and then click Properties.
