Duplicate configuration baselines in Configuration Manager 2007 are copies of configuration baselines that do not retain any relationship to the original configuration baseline. However, if the original configuration baseline contained read-only configuration items, the duplicate configuration database will also contain read-only configuration items.

The duplicate configuration baseline will by default be assigned the same name as the original configuration baseline, with a sequential number in parentheses as the suffix.

Important
If the configuration baseline was imported and the Configuration Manager console is unable to interpret all the configuration data, the option to duplicate the configuration baseline will not be available.

To create a duplicate configuration baseline

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Desired Configuration Management / Configuration Baselines.

  2. Right-click the configuration baseline you want to duplicate, and then click Duplicate.

  3. In the Item name dialog box, specify a name for the duplicate configuration baseline or accept the default name and then click OK.
