You might need to create duplicate configuration baselines in Configuration Manager 2007 for the following reasons:

or remove configuration items to the configuration rules.
- You want to use a configuration baseline you
have imported or inherited from a parent site, but you want to edit
or remove the configuration items in the configuration baseline
rules.
- You have created a configuration baseline to
use as a template for new, independent configuration baselines.
You might need to create duplicate configuration items for the following reasons:
- You want to use a configuration item you have
imported or inherited from a parent site, but you want to edit or
remove properties in the configuration item.
- You have created a configuration item to use
as a template for new, independent configuration items.

When you create a duplicate configuration baseline or configuration item, the duplicate does not retain a relationship to the original configuration data. Therefore, if the original configuration data is upgraded, any revisions are not passed to the duplicate configuration baseline or configuration item. |
