As your Configuration Manager 2007 site performs the tasks that you schedule and configure, site components continually add data to the site's database. As the amount of data grows, database performance declines.
Predefined maintenance tasks target the Configuration Manager 2007 site database and continually remove out-of-date data. Reducing the size of the database by removing unnecessary data improves the performance and the integrity of the database, which increases the efficiency of the site.
Primary sites have all of the predefined maintenance tasks available as listed below. The only predefined maintenance task available for secondary sites however, is the Backup Site Server maintenance task.

The Delete Aged Delete Detection Data maintenance task does not provide functionality in Configuration Manager 2007.
