When you click the Component Status node of the Configuration Manager console, you can view the status of all components in the Configuration Manager 2007 site in the results pane of the Configuration Manager console window.

UI Element List

For each component in the list, the following information is shown by default:

Action Description

Status

Displays the status of the Configuration Manager 2007 component. The status will be one of the following:

  • OK The number of status messages generated by the component has not crossed a Warning or Critical threshold as set in the Thresholds tab of the Component Status Summarizer Properties dialog box.

  • Warning The number of status messages generated by the component has crossed a Warning threshold as set in the Thresholds tab of the Component Status Summarizer Properties dialog box.

  • Critical The number of status messages generated by the component has crossed a Critical threshold as set in the Thresholds tab of the Component Status Summarizer Properties dialog box.

Site System

Displays the Configuration Manager 2007 site system running the component.

Component

Displays the name of the Configuration Manager 2007 component.

Thread State

Displays the status of the thread running the Configuration Manager 2007 component. This can be one of the following:

  • Started

  • Stopped

  • Paused

  • Installing

  • Reinstalling

  • Deinstalling

Errors

Displays the number of error messages generated by the component since it was last started.

Warnings

Displays the number of warning messages generated by the component since it was last started.

Information

Displays the number of informational messages generated by the component since it was last started.

Startup Type

Displays the method used to start the component. This can be one of the following:

Scheduled The component runs periodically, according to a defined schedule.

Autostarting The component runs automatically each time its site system is restarted.

Manual The component must be manually started by the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator.

Availability

Displays the availability of the component. This can be one of the following:

  • Online

  • Failed

  • Degraded

  • Offline

  • Unknown

Next Scheduled

Displays the time and date when the component is next scheduled to start.

Last Started

Displays the time and date when the component last started.

Last Status Message

Displays the time and date when the component last generated a status message.

Last Heartbeat

Displays the last time that the component generated a heartbeat to indicate its status.

Heartbeat Interval

Displays the defined heartbeat interval (if any) for the component. If a component fails to report a heartbeat within this interval, then its status will be reported as failure.

Type

Displays the component type. The following values are possible:

  • Unknown

  • Monitored Thread Component

  • Unmonitored Thread Component

  • Monitored Service Component

  • Unmonitored Service Component

  • Component Not Installed by Site Component Manager

Actions for the Component Status Home Page

The following actions are available on the package status home page:

Action Description

Display Interval

Allows you to filter the displayed component status by date and time. The following values are available:

  • Since 12:00:00 AM

  • Since 6:00:00 AM

  • Since 12:00:00 PM

  • Since 6:00:00 PM

  • Since Sunday

  • Since Monday

  • Since Tuesday

  • Since Wednesday

  • Since Thursday

  • Since Friday

  • Since Saturday

  • Since the 1st of the Month

  • Since the 15th of the Month

  • Since Site Installtion

The default value is Since Site Installation.

Give Feedback

Opens a Configuration Manager 2007 Web site where feedback can be given.

View

Provides the following view options:

  • Add/Remove columns: Specifies which columns display in the results pane. Select the column name from the Available columns list, and then click Add to add the column to the Displayed Columns list. Select the column name from the Displayed Columns list, and then click Remove to remove the column from the displayed columns. Click Restore Defaults to display the default columns. Click OK to save changes.

  • Export list: Exports the data in the results pane to a text or unicode text file that is tab or comma delimited.

  • Hide search bar: Specifies to hide the search bar located above the results pane.

  • Customize: Specifies which items are displayed in the Configuration Manager 2007 console.

New Window from Here

Opens a new console window using the current node as the root node.

Refresh

Refreshes the display with the most current information.

Help

Opens the associated help topic.

Selecting a component from the list will cause the following additional actions to be displayed:

Action Description

Show Messages

Opens the ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer window, allowing you to view a more detailed status from the component. You can filter the results to show only items with the following severity:

  • All

  • Error

  • Warnings

  • Info

Start

Allows you to start further tools to assist you in troubleshooting. The following tools are available:

  • Resource Explorer

  • ConfigMgr Service Manager

  • Windows Event Viewer

  • Windows Diagnostics

  • Windows Performance Monitor

Reset Counts

Allows you to reset the message counts on the selected component. This can be used to clear a critical or warning status. You can clear the following types of message:

  • All

  • Error

  • Warnings

  • Info

Refresh

Refreshes the display with the most current information.

Properties

Opens the General tab of the Component Status Properties dialog box, allowing you to view status message threshold information for the selected Configuration Manager 2007 component.

Help

Opens the associated help topic.
