Hardware Inventory is the process of gathering hardware-related information from current clients in a Systems Management Server (SMS) site. The information gathered includes processor type, network card, amount of memory, and disk information. SMS stores this data in the SMS site database, where you can use the information in queries to generate reports or build hardware-specific collections (a collection of all Intel Pentium-equipped computers, for example).
