Retrieve
The Retrieve object is used to retrieve archived files and folders from a Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server.
How it is used
Use the Retrieve object to retrieve files and folders from the TSM server that you had to keep for a certain amount of time for legal reasons.
Configuration
To configure the Retrieve object, you need to know the TSM policy domain and node that you want to retrieve from, and the names of the files and folders that you want to retrieve.
Details tab

Connection
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the connection that you want use.
Policy domain
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the TSM policy domain that you want to retrieve items from.
Node
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the node within the TSM policy domain that you want to retrieve items from.
Note: You cannot retrieve to multiple nodes.
Description
Type name of the archive that you want to retrieve. In TSM, the name of an archive is called the Description.
Retrieve
Click the Add button and type the name of the file or folder that you want to retrieve from the archive. Click OK and repeat for each file or folder that you want to include in the retrieval.
To include the files and sub-folders that are inside a folder, add a backslash to the end of the folder name:
C:\folder\
This will return all files and sub-folders in that folder, but it will not include the files that are inside of the sub-folders. To include files that are inside of sub-folders, add a backslash to the end of the sub-folder name:
C:\folder\subfolder\
Note: You cannot use wildcards such as * or ?.
Options tab

Files that exist
Specify what to do with objects retrieved from the TSM server already exist on the destination computer by selecting an option from the drop-down list:
Do not replace – Do not retrieve items that already exist on the destination computer.
Replace files even if read-only/locked – Replace all files that already exist on the destination node, even if they are locked or read-only files. This option is useful in situations where you want to replace damaged files with functional ones on the destination node.
Replace only if newer
If you checked the Replace files even if read-only/locked option above, check this check box to replace the file or folder on the destination node if the item on the TSM server is newer.
Wait for completion of the schedule
Opalis Software Inc. recommends that you leave this check box checked. If you do not check it, the object may complete before its schedule completes, and it may not generate Published Data for subsequent objects.
