Incremental Backup
The Incremental Backup object is used to make a backup copy of entire file systems, or files and folders that you specify. The first time you run an incremental backup, all files and folders that you specify are backed up. After the first time, only new and changed files and folders are backed up.
How it is used
Use the Incremental Backup object to make copies of files and folders that you use on a regular basis.
Configuration
To configure the Incremental Backup object, you need to know the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) policy domain and node that you want to back up, and the names of the files and folders you want to back up.
Details tab

Connection
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the connection that you want use.
Policy domain
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the TSM policy domain that you want to back up items from.
Node
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the node within the TSM policy domain that you want to back up items from.
Note: You cannot backup from multiple nodes.
Based on node options
Back up files or folders according to options that are already configured in TSM for this node.
Selected files or folders
Specify the files and folders that you want to include in the incremental backup. Click the Add button and type the name of the file or folder that you want to back up. Click OK and repeat for each file or folder that you want to include in the backup.
Note: You must specify each folder and file that you want to include in the backup. For example, if you specify the name of a folder, it will not automatically include the files in that folder; you must specify the folder name and the files within that folder to include them in the backup. You may use wildcards such as * and ?.
Include subdirectories
Include sub-folders of any folder you specify when you select the Selected files or folders option.
Options tab

Incremental
Select one of the following backup options from the drop-down list:
Complete – Include all files and folders in the folder tree in the incremental backup.
Date only – Include files whose modification date and time is later than the date and time of the last incremental backup. Files added to the backup with earlier modification dates and times than the last incremental back are not included. You must run one complete incremental backup before you can use this option.
Without journal – Do not generate a journal of backup activity when you run the incremental backup.
Compress objects
Compress the files and folders that you are backing up.
Continue compressing if object grows
Compress new files and folders that are added to the incremental backup.
Use less memory (slower)
Use less system memory to complete the backup. This may be useful on computers where other processes require system resources while a backup is occurring.
Back up NTFS security information
Include NTFS security information in the backup.
Wait for completion of the schedule
Opalis Software Inc. recommends that you leave this check box checked. If you do not check it, the object may complete before its schedule completes, and it may not generate Published Data for subsequent objects.
Available Published Data

Name
Description
Incremental backup type
The type of incremental backup that was performed.
File list
The list of all files that are processed by the incremental backup. This item is generated by TSM. To see what will be produced, see the TSM schedule log. Opalis Software Inc. recommends that you use this item with objects from the Integration Pack for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.
Note: When you specify a file at the root level, such as C:\file.txt, this Published Data item returns C:\ | C:\file.txt.
File or folder
A list of each individual file and folder that is processed by the incremental backup. Opalis Software Inc. recommends that you use this item with objects that are not part of the Integration Pack for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.
Note: When you specify a file at the root level, such as C:\file.txt, this Published Data item returns C:\ and C:\file.txt.
