Creating shared folders

To create one or more shared folders for network disks:

  1. In the left pane of the ESI window, select the host.

  2. In the Actions pane, click Create Shared Folder.

  3. The Create Shared Folder wizard appears.

  1. Select the storage system from the list box and then click Next.

  2. In the Storage Pool page, select a storage pool and then click Next.

  3. In the Shared Folder Setting page, set the details for the shared folder or folders and then click Next.

Shared Folder Count

Number of folders to create

Sequence Number

First number to append to the name for the first folder

Note: For example,  to create three folders with the appended numbers 15, 16, and 17, type 3 in the Shared Folder Count field and type 15 in the Sequence Number field.

Name for the folder or folders

Path for the folder or folders

Capacity

Capacity and unit of measurement for the folder or folders

Service Node

Storage processor that hosts the folder

Provision Type

Select either Thick or Thin

Stop provisioning new shared folders when error occurs

To stop creating new folders if an error occurs during the process

  1. In the Drive Letter Setting page, select a drive letter, and then click Next.

  1. In the Credentials page, type your username and password.

  1. In the Review Input Parameters page, review the settings and then click Next to confirm them.

  2. In the Progress page, click Next.

    Note: Click More Information for more progress details. If a problem occurs, an error message appears along with options to resume or roll back the process. After you resolve the error, click Resume to resume the process. Click Rollback to revert to the previously executed step.

  1. In the Summary page, click Finish.

  2. The shared folder or folders appears in the list of Network Disks in the center pane and in the Shared Folders list under Storage Systems.
