The Component Installed for Product MSI rule in System Center Updates Publisher is used when creating or modifying software update definitions. It is used primarily as a prerequisite type rule. The specified MSI (Windows Installer) information about the product and component is verified with what is found on a scanned computer. If the rule does not pass verification, the software update is considered not needed on the computer. The Component Installed for Product rule has the following configuration settings:
- Product Code: Specifies one or more
product GUIDs that are associated with the components configured in
the Component Code field. At least one configured product
code must be associated with at least one configured component for
the rule to be verified on the computer. Click Add to
specify each product code. At least one product code is required.
To require that all configured products have at least one
configured component, click All Products Required.
- Component Code: Specifies one or more
component GUID that are associated with the products configured in
the Product Code field. Click Add to specify the
component code. At least one component code is required. To require
at least one product to have all of the configured components,
click All Components required. When All Products
Required and All Components required are enabled, all
configured products must have all of the configured components.
