Removing a branch distribution point is sometimes necessary when maintaining a Configuration Manager 2007 site. Removing a branch distribution point will also delete that branch distribution point from all packages.
When a branch distribution point role is removed from Configuration Manager, it is necessary to wait a short time (usually about 15 minutes) for this change to propagate through the entire site before deleting the resource from a collection.
To remove a branch distribution point
-
Remove all distribution package folders and the SMSPKGSIG signature folder from the branch distribution point computer.
Important You must manually remove these components before removing the branch distribution point role. -
In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site name> / Site Settings / Site Systems.
-
Click the specific branch distribution point to be removed.
-
Right-click the ConfigMgr distribution point role in the results pane, and then click Delete.
-
Click Yes in the Confirm Delete dialog box.
