When deleting a resource in Configuration Manager 2007, that resource is removed from both the collections that utilize it and from the Configuration Manager database.

If you want to remove a resource from a specific collection but not from the Configuration Manager database, modify that collection's membership rules. For more information, see About Collection Membership.

Note
You must have Delete Resource permissions for the Collection security object type to delete a resource. For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager.
