When an advertisement is deleted, Configuration Manager 2007 will also remove the status summary for that advertisement, thereby preventing a buildup of obsolete status summaries.

Occasionally, however, it is useful to retain a status summary after you are no longer using an advertisement. This can be especially useful in the following situations:

To retain an advertisement status summary, you must have Modify permission for the Package security object type, Advertise permission for the Collection security object or instance type, and Read permission for the Package security object or instance type.

For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager.

To retain an advertisement status summary

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Distribution / Advertisements.

  2. Right-click the advertisement for which you want to retain the status summary, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Schedule tab, set the Advertisement will expire value to a time in the past. As short a time as a minute before the present time is sufficient.
