When the Network Discovery method is used in Configuration Manager 2007, and the Topology, client, and client operating system option is selected, routers, subnets, potential clients, and their operating systems are discovered and stored in the Configuration Manager site database. (Operating system information is needed for collections that depend on the operating system type.)
