A desktop computer or laptop that synchronizes with mobile devices can install the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 mobile device client during synchronization. Once the mobile device client installation files are distributed to the computer or laptop, the mobile device client can be installed across the Mobile Device Center on the Windows Vista operating system or ActiveSync (Microsoft Windows XP and earlier) connection. Procedure

To transfer the client installation package and install via a desktop computer, perform the following steps:

  1. Transfer the mobile device client deployment folder with its contents to a computer that synchronizes with a mobile device.

  2. Connect the mobile device to the computer, and verify that they are synchronized.

  3. Navigate to the mobile device client deployment folder on the computer, and run DMClientXfer.exe. The Configuration Manager 2007 mobile device client is installed on the mobile device.

  4. Verify the mobile device client is installed on the mobile device. For more information, see How to Verify Mobile Device Client Installation or Upgrade. Deployment results are written to DMClientXfer.log in the \temp\smsdm in the user folder.
