The Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 mobile device client setup program will not install an older Configuration Manager 2007 client version on a mobile device running a newer mobile device client. In order to install an older version of the mobile device client the newer version must first be uninstalled.
To downgrade to an older version of the mobile device client perform the following:

Remove the newer mobile device client from the mobile device. For more information about removing the mobile device client, see How to Remove the Mobile Device Client.

Remove the mobile device client deployment folder from the synchronizing computer (computer-based installations) or from the mobile device (mobile device-based installations).

distribute a mobile device client installation package to install the client. For more information about installing the mobile device client, see How to Install or Upgrade the Mobile Device Management Client.
