The %systemroot%\system32\smsmsgs folder on the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 site server contains the following items, which allow Configuration Manager 2007 to report status messages as events to the Windows event log. (This is accomplished by using status filter rules.)
- The resource libraries required for Windows
Event Viewer to display events reported by Configuration Manager
2007.
- The command files required to set up the
Event Log service so that it is aware of the Configuration Manager
2007 events.
Even if Configuration Manager is removed, the %systemroot%\system32\smsmsgs folder is never deleted. As a result, the Windows Event Viewer can continue to display the events that were previously reported by Configuration Manager 2007.
