Use the Validation tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 Assembly Properties dialog box or File or Folder Properties dialog box to configure the validation criteria for the object.

The list of validation criteria is displayed with the following properties:
- Name
- Severity
- Property
- Validation
This tab contains the following elements:
- New
- Allows you to choose the property against which the object will
be validated and then opens the Configure Validation dialog
box.
For assembly objects the following properties are available:- Version: The version of the assembly
file in the form major version.minor version.build
number.revision number.
- Culture: The locale of the assembly,
for example, enu.
- Public Key Token:
- Size: (can be used for files only)
Specifies the size of the file in Bytes.
- Product name: (can be used for files
only) Specifies the product name.
- File Version: (can be used for files
only) Specifies the version number of the file in the form major
version.minor version.
- Date Modified: Specifies the date and
time in coordinated universal time (UTC) when the file or folder
was last modified. Use the form M/D/YYYY HH:MM:SS.
- Date Created: Specifies the date and
time in coordinated universal time (UTC) when the file or folder
was created. Use the form M/D/YYYY HH:MM:SS.
- Company: (can be used for files only)
Specifies the company name contained in the file.
- SHA-1 Hash: Specifies the SHA-1 hash
value of the file.
Important When specifying the file version, you must ensure that the file version on client computers that you are evaluating is in the form major version.minor version. If the value returned from the client computer is a single digit, then the object will always report compliance. - Version: The version of the assembly
file in the form major version.minor version.build
number.revision number.
- Edit
- Opens the Configure Validation dialog box so that you can view and edit the object's validation.
- Delete
- Deletes the selected validations for the object.
- Report a non-compliance event when this instance count fails
- If this box is checked, a non-compliance event of the specified severity will be recorded when the number of instances of an object or setting are not in the range specified.
- Instance count operator
- Use to validate the number of instances of an object or
setting. Specify one of the following operators:
- Equals
- Not Equals
- Greater Than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less Than
- Less than or equal to
- Between
- One Of (specify values separated by
spaces)
- None Of (specify values separated by
spaces)
- Equals
- Values
- Specifies the value to use with the selected operator. The default value is 0.
- AND
- Specifies an additional value to use with the selected operator. This option is only available if the operator is set to Between.
- Severity
- Specifies the severity level if this configuration object
instance count fails. This severity level will be displayed in
conjunction with the non-compliance status and can report as a
Windows event, which will be logged to the Windows application
event log. Note that monitoring software such as Microsoft
Operations Management (MOM) can be used to monitor the severity
level for client computers out of compliance. For more information,

Management.Available severity levels:
- Information - no Windows event
messages Client computers that fail this instance count will
not raise Windows events to record this event but will still report
a non-compliance status in Configuration Manager 2007.
- Information Computers that fail this
instance count will raise the Windows event type of
Information. In addition, these computers will record this
severity status in conjunction with their noncompliance status in
Configuration Manager 2007.
- Warning Computers that fail this
instance count will raise the Windows event type of Warning.
In addition, these computers will record this severity status in
conjunction with their noncompliance status in Configuration
Manager 2007.
- Error Computers that fail this
instance count will raise the Windows event type of Error.
In addition, these computers will record this severity status in
conjunction with their noncompliance status in Configuration
Manager 2007.
- Information - no Windows event
messages Client computers that fail this instance count will
not raise Windows events to record this event but will still report
a non-compliance status in Configuration Manager 2007.
- OK
- Saves the changes and exits the dialog box.
- Cancel
- Exits the dialog box without saving any changes.
- Help
- Opens the help topic for this tab of the dialog box.
