Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 configuration items are collections of desired settings to be applied to the mobile device using Configuration Manager 2007. Administrators can use configuration items to distribute the following to Configuration Manager 2007 managed mobile devices:

Configuration items are distributed in configuration packages, which can be advertised to Configuration Manager 2007 mobile device clients. Configuration items created on a Configuration Manager 2007 server do not propagate to child sites although configuration packages containing configuration items do propagate in read-only format.
