The reports described in this section are available in the SMS 2003 Management Pack. Reporting is an optional component that must be installed separately. SMS Reporting
The Systems Management Server 2003 Management Pack includes three types of reports:
- Performance
- Configuration
- Availability
Reports are targeted to groups or objects by using the object picker. All reports are linked reports which take advantage of Operations Manager 2007 reporting capabilities. You can choose from among seven exportable formats for your reports.
Availability Reports
There are three Availability reports in the SMS 2003 Management Pack. These reports can be executed against the Microsoft.SMS.2003.ServersGroup object picker target group by selecting the SMS Server Group (Microsoft.SMS.2003.ServersGroup).
Server Availability Report
The Server Availability Report is based upon the aggregate health state of all entities on a particular server. This report will include health states for SMS monitor roles as well as the health states of any other monitored roles.
Site Server Availability
The Site Server Availability Report is based upon the health state of a site server. This report uses information from the health monitor.
Management Point Availability Report
The Management Point Availability Report is based upon the health state of a Management Point. This report uses information from the health monitor.
Configuration Report
There is one configuration report available with the SMS 2003 Management Pack, SMS 2003 Server Customer Configuration Report. This report is a basic custom configuration report containing properties for an SMS server or group of SMS servers.
The report will display the following SMS properties:
- Version (SMS Product Version)
- Site System Type (Site System Type, Server Type, Database
Server Type)
- Components (Site Server, Server Locator Point, Distribution
Point, Management Point, Reporting Point, Database Server,
Provider, Sender, Client Access Point)
- Site Code (SMS site code)
- Server Type (Central, Primary, Secondary Site Server)
- Name (NetBIOS name)
- Database Server Type (Site Database Server)
This report can be executed against the Microsoft.SMS.2003.ServersGroup object picker target group.
Performance
The performance reports have been grouped into units based first upon the site role being monitored and then by counters based on whether they are rate-related performance counters (such as per sec or per min) or raw counters (totals). This grouping ensures all counters for a report utilize a similar scale.
The reports have been developed based on the type of analysis required. Two sets of reports are available depending upon the type of analysis required. One set shows all the performance counters for a particular SMS server role, such as for a management point or site server. The second set shows all counters for a particular processing object, such as hardware inventory, for all site roles.
SMS 2003 Server Performance Group Reports
To run the following reports, select Microsoft.SMS.2003.ServerPerformanceGroup in the object picker target group.
