About Remote Control of Windows NT Clients

In addition to its basic features, Remote Control includes the following additional features when used on clients running Windows NT version 3.51 and later.

The SMS Remote Control Agent (wuser32.exe) runs as a service on all 32-bit clients.
You must, by default, gain access through a user account that is a member of the client's Administrators local group to remotely control a client running Windows NT. Otherwise, when you request remote control, a dialog box appears, and you are prompted to enter an appropriate account name and password.
You can create your own list of user accounts that can be used to remotely control a client. These permitted viewers can be configured on a per-site basis.
Screen data that transfers between the client and the SMS Administrator console is automatically accelerated during remote control if the video driver on the Windows NT client is on the default list of supported video drivers for SMS and if acceleration has been turned on for the site.
A user does not have to be logged on at the client for the client to be remotely controlled. However, the Permission Required option must be disabled in the Remote Control setting in Control Panel on the client.
All access requests for remote control are automatically logged to the Windows NT security log on the client.
You can remotely log on and log off, and you can lock and unlock a Windows NT client.

Some features are not supported when remotely controlling Windows NT clients:

Changing the resolution of the Windows NT client and testing the display driver are not supported from the Remote Control Client Viewer.
If a command window on the client is placed in full-screen mode, the change is not displayed in the Remote Control Client Viewer; however, keystrokes continue to pass through to the client.
