In Resource Explorer, you use Hardware History to view the hardware collection history of a client. You can proceed through each hardware inventory update to view the inventory data stored for a client at a specific time. When you view historical data, the time it was inventoried appears in the Resource Explorer title bar.
In the details pane, Timestamp displays the time of the most recent data collection for the items in the SMS Administrator console tree. The history folders contain only the classes and properties that have changed; they reflect the differences from the original full hardware inventory. If a class never changes, it never appears in Hardware History. Changed values are listed in the details pane with the newest value at the top, the oldest on the bottom.
