Configuring Software Distribution

Before you can use the software distribution feature to distribute software to clients, you must configure the infrastructure in SMS. To do so, you must perform the following three tasks:

• Configure software distribution components. Configure software distribution components to set the location of stored packages, the Windows NT Client Software Installation account, and various retry settings.
• Configure a site system to serve in the role of distribution point. Distribution points store the package data needed by clients to run advertised programs.
• Configure the Advertised Programs Client Agent. Enable the Advertised Programs Client Agent and configure client messages.

After you configure the SMS software distribution infrastructure, you can distribute software to clients.
