Site System Properties Dialog Box: Software Metering Server Tab

Unsupported platforms    Software metering is not supported on Alpha servers.

Use this tab to configure the selected site system as a software metering server.

Use this site system as a software metering server
Assigns the software metering server role to this site system. By default, this option is disabled.

Note    NetWare servers cannot be software metering servers.

Server configuration
Specify the software metering database location and the database server time zone. If the site system is not used as a software metering server, the options in this group box are unavailable.
Database location
The path to the software metering database on the server. By default, the path is C:\swmtr. The maximum path length is 254 characters.

Caution   After you set the database location for a site system, you cannot modify it.

Time zone
The time zone of the selected server location. By default, the time zone is that of the local server.
Service configuration
Specify the service account and password. If the site system is not used as a software metering server, the options in this group box are unavailable.
Service account
The account and password used by the services running on the software metering server. Click Set to launch the Windows NT Account dialog box.
Connection retries
The number of times you want the Software Metering service to retry the connection to the database. By default, the value is 100 attempts. Valid entries range from 1 through 1,000 attempts.
Connection retry delay (milliseconds)
The time (measured in milliseconds) before you want the server to attempt to retry the database connection. By default, the delay value is 150 milliseconds. Valid entries range from 1 through 3,000 milliseconds.

Note    If the service cannot connect to the database in the specified number of retries, it generates an error. Increasing the retry count and the retry delay might solve this problem.

Client connection points (threads)
The number of threads allocated to database connections. When requests exceed this number, requests are queued and processed as soon as idle threads become available. By default, the value is 8 threads. Valid entries range from 1 through 100 threads.
