Use the Settings node of the Operations Manager 2007 Operations console Administration pane to perform the post-installation configuration of the management group, management servers, and agent-managed computers of the management group. These management group-wide settings are also referred to as global settings.

Note
For information about overriding settings for specific management servers and agent-managed computers, see Device Management Node of the Operations Manager 2007 Operations Console.

Agent Heartbeat

Use the management group Agent Heartbeat setting to configure how often agent-managed computers send a heartbeat to their management server. A heartbeat is a periodic pulse from an agent to its management server that contains information related to the health of the agent. For more information, see How to Configure the Agent Heartbeat Setting for an Operations Manager 2007 Management Group. For information about overriding the setting for a specific agent-managed computer, see Device Management Node of the Operations Manager 2007 Operations Console.

Grooming helps maintain the performance of the Operations Manager database by managing its size through the deletion of unnecessary records. For more information, see How to Configure Grooming Settings for the Operations Manager 2007 Database in Operations Manager 2007.
