Creating or Editing Virtual Machine Template
Use the following procedures to create or edit a virtual machine
To create a virtual machine template
In the Actions pane, under Update Virtual Machine
Templates, click New Group.
Note If you
cannot view the Actions pane, on the main toolbar, click
Actions to display it.
On the Create a Virtual Machine Template Group page of
the New Virtual Machine Template Group Wizard, type a name and a
description for the group. You can use the description to help
identify the group, for example if the group name is standardized
and you need additional "friendly" information to easily identify
If your Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) system has more than one
library server, expand the VMM library server drop-down
list, and then click the name of the VMM library server that holds
the virtual machine templates with which you want to work.
In the Available templates list, select the virtual
machine templates to place in this group, click the arrow button to
move them into the Selected templates list (click the
double-arrow button to move all of the virtual machine templates
into the list), and then click Next.
On the Create Template – Virtual Machine Association
page of the wizard, under Select Template, expand the
drop-down list to select the template that you want, under
Select Virtual Machine, expand the drop-down list to select
the virtual machine that you want, and then click Add to
establish the association.
Click Finish to complete the wizard.
To edit an
existing virtual machine template group
In the Groups pane of the tool console, expand the
Virtual Machine Servicing Tool Groups tree node, and then
click the Virtual Machines Template Groups node to display
the current list of virtual machine template groups in the results
pane of the tool console.
In the list of virtual machine template groups, select the
group you want to edit, and then in the Actions pane, under
Update Virtual Machine Templates, click Edit
On the EditGroup page, you can change the
description of the virtual machine template group, and you can add
or remove virtual machine templates. Remember that all of the
virtual machine templates and corresponding gold virtual machines
in the group must be on the same VMM library server.
