The Windows Version basic rule in System Center Updates Publisher is used when creating or modifying software update definitions. It is used primarily as a prerequisite type rule. The specified Windows version is verified with what is found on a scanned computer. If the rule does not pass verification, the software update is considered not needed on the computer. The Windows Version property has the following configuration settings:
- Comparison: Specifies whether the
Windows version on the computer is less than, less than or equal
to, equal to, greater than or equal to, or greater than the
configured version. This is a required field.
- Major Version: Specifies the major
version of Windows on the computer. Refer to the table in this
topic for a list of different Windows versions. The default value
is set to 5, with possible values of 4, 5, and 6. This is a
required field.
- Minor Version: Specifies the minor
version of Windows on the computer. Refer to the table in this
topic for a list of different Windows versions. The default value
is set to 0. This is an optional field.
- SP Major Version: Specifies the
Service Pack major version for Windows on the computer. The default
value is set to 0. This is an optional field.
- SP Minor Version: Specifies the
Service Pack minor version for Windows on the computer. The default
value is set to 0. This is an optional field.
- Build Number: Specifies the build
number of Windows on the computer. This is an optional field.
- Product Type: Specifies whether the
computer is a workstation, domain controller, or server. This is an
optional field.
