Use the Distribution Points page in the Configuration Manager 2007 Deploy Software Updates Wizard or Update List Wizard to select the distribution points that are used to host the software update files defined in the new deployment package. After a deployment package is created, distribution points are managed from the Distribution Points node under the associated package.

When no distribution points are selected, the deployment is created and the software update file is downloaded to the source folder, but the update file will not be available to client computers until at least one distribution point is added to the package.

If all software updates in the deployment have previously been downloaded and copied to a package shared folder on the distribution point, the Distribution Points page of the wizard does not display. The deployment is automatically configured with the package used to download the update.

The Distribution Points page only displays in the Update List Wizard if the Download the files associated with the selected software updates setting is enabled on the Update List page.

Name Description


Opens the Add Distribution Points dialog box to select the distribution points for the software update deployment package. In the Distribution Points pane, each site in the hierarchy displays and can be expanded to show the distribution points that are available. Check the box to the left of the distribution point server names to select the distribution points for the package. Click OK to exit the dialog box. To add all site distribution points for a site, click the box to the left of the site code for the site.


Goes to the previous page of the wizard.


Goes to the next page of the wizard.


Goes to the Summary page of the wizard.


Discards the settings and exits the wizard.
