Advertisements can only be rerun if the original advertisement has a mandatory scheduled assignment that has not expired. The Re-run advertisement functionality creates a new mandatory assignment for the advertised program, scheduled to the current time and date. This forces all clients in the target collection to rerun the advertisement, even if they have already run it.

By default, new schedules are created in the local time of the site server. Schedules created by the Re-run Advertisement action are set to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) without distinction between local schedules and UTC schedules in the Mandatory Assignments window. To validate or change settings for any Mandatory Assignment schedule, select the Assignment Schedule, and then click the Properties icon to open the Assignment Schedule dialog box.
A maximum of 15 mandatory assignments (including rerun advertisements) are allowed at one time for each program.

To rerun an advertisement

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Distribution / Advertisements.

  2. Right-click the advertisement you want to rerun, and then click Re-run Advertisement.

  3. Click Yes.
