Microsoft understands the critical nature of the Year 2000 (Y2K) issue for organizations. To help computer professionals responsible for the Y2K health of Microsoft products used in their environments, Microsoft has developed a plan to test Microsoft products' date-handling capabilities for the Y2K issue. Microsoft products are being tested to ensure that:
Note All references to "dates" refer to using either four digits or two digits for the YEAR portion of the date. This testing criteria does not constitute a warranty or certification expressed or implied, of any kind.
As Microsoft tests the various products, a compliance category is assigned to each product and the information is posted to the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource Center Web site, at http://www.microsoft.com/Year2000. The specific product information is also available in an ASCII tab-delimited text file that organizations can download. The Year 2000 Resource Center Web site provides comprehensive information about the date-handling capabilities of Microsoft products and enables you to download information about the effect of Y2K issues on the industry. Information about third-party Y2K services and tools is also provided.
