Use this tab to set software metering client timeouts and
callbacks. Timeouts occur when a client does not report live status
within a specified interval of time. When a client times out, the
license is reclaimed by the software metering server. Callbacks
occur when the system sends a callback message to inform a user
that a license for a previously requested product is available.
Timing is only active when the Software Metering Client Agent is
online. The default setting is offline, and you can change these
settings within the General
tab.
Configuration polling interval (minutes)
The frequency at which the client checks the software metering
server for changes to client configuration. The default interval is
240 minutes (4 hours). Valid entries range from 1 through 10,080
minutes.
Client time-out settings (minutes)
Specifies how often clients report live status, how often the
system checks for timed-out clients, and the client time-out
response period.
Live status acknowledgement interval
The frequency at which the client acknowledges that it is
running. The default interval is 60 minutes. Valid entries range
from 30 through 10,080 minutes.
Polling interval for timed-out clients
How often the software metering server checks for timed-out
clients. (You set the time-out interval in Client time-out grace
period.) If a client does not send an acknowledgment to the
server within the specified amount of time, a security alert
occurs. The default interval for time-out checking is 120 minutes.
Valid entries range from 60 through 20,160 minutes.
Note This value should be set to a
number at least twice as large as the Live status
acknowledgement interval.
Client time-out grace period
The maximum length of time that a client can run without
acknowledging that it is running. If this time elapses and a client
does not acknowledge itself, the software metering server issues a
security alert, and times out the client the next time the software
metering server scans for security breaches. The default interval
is 180 minutes. Valid entries range from 90 through 30,240
minutes.
Note This value should be set to a
number at least three times as large as the Live status
acknowledgement interval.
Callback settings (minutes)
Specifies the callback time-out value and how often the client
checks the callback table.
Callback request duration
The frequency at which the software metering server removes an
ungranted requested callback from the pending callbacks list. The
default time is 30 minutes. Valid entries range from 10 through
1,440 minutes.
Granted callback grace period
The frequency at which the software metering server holds
granted callbacks in the callback table. When this period expires,
the callbacks are timed out, and the license is no longer available
to the client. The default time is 10 minutes. Valid entries range
from 1 through 1,440 minutes.
Callback polling interval
The frequency at which the client checks for granted callback
requests. The default interval is 5 minutes. Valid entries are 1
through 60 minutes.
Note This value should be less than the
value set for Granted callback grace period.
