Use the following procedure to create a new hardware profile. By creating and re-using hardware profiles, you can ensure consistent hardware settings in each set of virtual machines created by using that hardware profile.To create a new hardware profile
In Library view in the VMM Administrator Console, in the Actions pane, click New hardware profile.
On the New Hardware Profile dialog box, click the General tab, and then fill in the following properties:
- Name (required). Type a unique name
for the hardware profile.
- Description (optional). Type a
description for the hardware profile.
- Owner (required). The owner must have
a domain account in Active Directory.
- Name (required). Type a unique name for the hardware profile.
Click the Hardware Setting tab.
Configure the hardware components.
- Startup Order—Select
the order of devices to start the operating system.
Requirements—Specify processor requirements for the virtual
- Memory—Specify the
amount of memory to allocate to the virtual machine.
Drive—Configure the virtual floppy drive to read a physical
floppy disk on the host or to read a virtual floppy disk file
stored in the library.
- DVD or CD Drive—Add
a virtual DVD or CD drive to an IDE bus.
Adapters—Configure one or more virtual network adapters for a

Availability—Configure the virtual machine's priority for CPU
resources on the host. Configure the virtual machine to be highly
