In Virtual Machine Manager, a virtual-to-virtual machine conversion, or V2V conversion, is the process by which a virtual machine is converted to a Hyper-V or Virtual Server-based virtual machine in a VMM environment. The source virtual machine can be in the library or managed by a VMware ESX Server. Currently, Virtual Machine Manager supports converting a VMware Server–based virtual machine to an analogous Hyper-V or Virtual Server–based virtual machine deployed on a host managed by VMM.
