Use the Host Cluster actions in Hosts view to add a Windows Server 2008 failover cluster to VMM as a host cluster, monitor clustered hosts, configure the failover node reserve and Performance and Resource Optimization (PRO) for a host cluster, move a host cluster within the host group hierarchy, and remove a cluster from VMM. When you add or remove a node from a host cluster that is being managed by VMM, you need to update the host configuration in VMM. The topics in this section cover all of these tasks.
In This Section
- How to Add a Host Cluster to VMM
- Use the Add Hosts Wizard to add a Windows Server 2008 failover cluster to VMM as a host cluster.
- How to Configure PRO for a Host Cluster
- Configure Performance and Resource Optimization (PRO) for a host cluster. Specify the severity level of PRO tips to receive and the severity level of PRO tips to automatically implement for the host cluster. You can optionally have the host cluster inherit PRO settings from its parent host group.
- How to View and Modify the Properties of a Host Cluster
- View the status of cluster nodes and virtual machines in a host cluster, and get information about networking and storage. Configure Performance and Resource Optimization (PRO) and the failover node reserve for the host cluster.
- Managing External Changes to Host Clusters
- Find out what needs to be done in Virtual Machine Manager after adding or removing a node from a host cluster outside VMM.
- How to Move a Host Cluster to a Different Host Group
- Use the Move action to move a host cluster to a different host group, or drag the cluster to the target host group.
- How to Remove a Host Cluster
- Remove a host cluster from VMM.
