When publishing software updates in System Center Updates Publisher 2011, you can publish the full content of the software updates, you can publish only the metadata that describes the software updates, or you can specify automatic mode which enables Updates Publisher 2011 to publish the software updates with full content or with only metadata. In addition, you can export the software updates as a software updates catalog so that the software updates can be imported into another Updates Publisher 2011 repository.
The Publications Workspace
In the Publications workspace, you can manage the publications that you defined in the Updates workspace. When you assign software updates to a publication in the Updates workspace, the publications that you create are listed in the Publications workspace.
When you select a publication in this workspace, all of its software updates are displayed in the All PublicationName software updates list. You can use this list to do the following:
- Review information about the software updates
in the publication, such as the name of a software update, how it
is going to be published, whether the software update is expired,
and you can review its classification, severity, update type, and
dates of when it was modified and published.
- Change how the software update is published.
This includes full content, metadata only, and automatic mode.
- Remove software updates from the list.
In addition, when you select a software update from the All PublicationName software updates list, a summary of the software update is opened following the list.
