Setting SMS Data Retention Policy

Use the SMS Data Retention Policy dialog box to set data retention policy for all SMS 2003 SP2 and above grooming jobs.

• View the grooming job name and the name of the SCRM server in the General tab. You can also change the enable/disable state of the specified grooming in this tab.

• View the data retention period for the specified grooming job in the Data Retention tab. Also, edit data retention period by specifying the data retention period in days in the Edit Data Retention Period dialog box.

  • Double-click a row in the Data Retention policy: grid to display the Edit Data Retention Period dialog box.

    Note

    • SMS grooming supports multiple Data Retention Groups, so the Data Retention Policy grid on the Data Retention tab is populated with multiple Data Retention Groups.

    • Each Data Retention Group may have a different Data Retention Period set. For example:

      • SoftwareInventoryRetentionGroup: 365 Days
      • HardwareInventoryRetentionGroup: 200 days
      • ConfigurationDataRetentionGroup: 400 days
      • StatusMessageRetentionGroup: 250 days

• Edit the Run As account for the specified SMS grooming job using the Account tab.

  Note

  • The grooming job Run As account is only tested for the permissions required to perform grooming on the data warehouse, and not for the permissions required to read from a data source.

• Set the schedule for the SMS grooming job using the Schedule tab.
