Use this page to specify whether you want automatic or advanced discovery. The elements on this page vary depending on whether you are discovering computers or devices.

This page contains the elements described in the following table.

Name Description

Automatic computer discovery

Scans the domain your computer belongs to.

Advanced discovery

Enables you to specify discovery options and settings.

Computers & Device Types

Contains a list of available types of computers and devices.

Management Server

The primary Management Server for the computers to be discovered.

Verify discovered computers can be contacted

Determines whether the computer or device is available for monitoring. This element is visible only if you are discovering computers and is available only if Servers & Clients is selected under Computer & Device Types.

Proxy Agent

This element appears only if you select Network Devices in Computer & Device Types. This is the agent through which the device is monitored.

The management server must have SNMP installed and be able to connect to the network device.
