Before you can start deploying updates to managed computers, you must configure the update management feature and then download information about current updates from Microsoft Update. The Update Management Configuration Wizard completes both tasks.
The wizard prompts you for the following information:
- Proxy server configuration.
- The types of updates that you want to manage. You can select
updates by products, languages, priority, and categories (such as
security).
- Synchronization configuration.
- Automatic update approval.
The wizard does the following:
- Configures update management
- Performs an initial download of updates from Microsoft Update
based on your specifications

In the Essentials 2007 console, click the Administration button.

In the Action pane, click Configure Microsoft Update settings.
