When trying to run a simulation, one of the following misconfiguration messages appear when Operations Manager requirements are not met by the capacity model:
There cannot be more than 10,000 agents. Currently there are <Number> agents.
There must be at least one management server.
There must be one Root Management Server. Currently there are <Number>.
There cannot be more than one passive node of the clustered Root Management Server. Currently there are <Number>.
There must be one Operations Manager database. Currently there are <Number>.
There cannot be more than one passive node of the clustered Operations Manager database. Currently there are <Number>.
There cannot be more than one Reporting data warehouse. Currently there are <Number>.
There cannot be more than one passive node of the clustered Reporting data warehouse. Currently there are <Number>.
There cannot be more than one Operations Manager Reporting server. Currently there are <Number>.
The Operations Manager Reporting server must be accompanied by a Reporting data warehouse.
The gateway server and the passive node of the clustered root management server cannot be deployed on the same computer.
The Reporting data warehouse must be accompanied by a Operations Manager Reporting server.
There must be an equal number of ACS collectors and ACS databases. Currently there are <Number> ACS collectors and <Number> ACS databases.
The ACS collector and Management Server component represents both the ACS collector and the Management Server roles. Additionally deploying the separate Management Server role on the same server models the effect of a single server handling both ACS traffic and normal agent traffic. While this is a valid role configuration, it is not recommended and will generate a warning.
We recommend that the Operations Manager database server role should be installed on a server with at least 4 processor cores if number of agents is more than 1000.
We recommend that the Reporting data warehouse server role should be installed on a server with at least 4 processor cores if number of agents is more than 1000.
System Center Operations Manager 2007 does not support monitoring more than 6000 servers within a single Management Group.
Maximum recommended number of devices connected through the same gateway is 800.
Management server site should have at least one gateway server per 800 gateway-connected devices.
We recommend that the Data and Log files be mapped to separate disk volumes when there are more than 750 agents, or more than 500 agents if multiple database components are installed on the same server.
Typically, one of the listed adjustment messages appears when you have added more than one instance of a server component. Only one instance of the following components can exist in a capacity model:
- Operations Manager database
- Operations Manager database cluster (passive node)
- Data warehouse
- Root management server
- Root management server (passive node)
To make the required adjustments, use the To edit a server role in the Model Editor procedure in the How to Edit a Server Hardware Configuration or a Server Role in the Model Editor topic to remove a component from a server.
