In order to change the performance of your capacity model, you can add front-end Web servers to your SharePoint (WSS) farm. Adding such servers to a SharePoint deployment is a multi-step process, so please use the following procedure to ensure that the new server is completely configured.

Important
You can only add servers to the central SharePoint (WSS) farm. If you attempt to add servers to a branch office, the simulator will not run.

When adding a server, you can apply a hardware configuration used by another server in the capacity model to easily standardize hardware in the capacity model. A hardware configuration used by another server resembles SiteName\ServerName. After you add a server, you should connect the server to the site's LAN and configure its server role.
