Microsoft System Center Capacity Planner 2007 includes two variations of the Model Wizard: the Exchange Model Wizard and the Operations Manager Model Wizard. You begin by entering summary information in the appropriate Model Wizard and later you can refine information about your infrastructure by using the Capacity Planner Model Editor.
You use the Model Wizard pages to specify:
- Site and network information
- Number of users
- Number of servers
- Average user demand
- Hardware preference
- Application-specific information, such as whether certain
features are enabled
When you specify your desired topology and expected application usage in the Model Wizard, the wizard displays a summary and then generates a capacity model based on your specifications. After you save the capacity model, it is stored as a compressed binary file with a .sam file extension.
For additional information about a specific model wizard, see the Online Help for the corresponding application model.
